Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 16, 2015) – Mother Nature wreaked havoc on Knoxville Raceway last Saturday during Devin Kline’s 360ci sprint car debut.

Kline, who stepped up from the 305ci class for the first time, qualified 19th quickest and advanced to a sixth-place result in a heat race to earn the 18th starting position in the main event. However, just as the track began to widen out rain damped the area.

Kline and White Lightning Motorsports teammate Jamie Ball were forced to wait more than three hours until the track was ready for competition.

“I felt good about the track slicking off and then the rain came,” Ball said. “It was really slicked off and wide. It was going to be a fairly racy track and then Mother Nature did her thing.”

With the track heavy and fast during the main event Kline was able to maneuver to a 13th-place result.

“I was pretty happy about how it went,” he said. “Every time we hit the track we moved forward. It was a good experience to race with guys that had a lot more track time and experience.”

Ball finished one position better in the main event following a roller-coaster night.

“It was once again full of ups and downs,” he said. “I went out for hot laps and was the quickest car. We turned right back around for qualifying and I was the last car out. The track progressed very quickly and dried out. I ended up timing in 16th.”

That put him on the pole of a heat race, which he won to garner the 15th starting position for the feature.

“It was more of a hot laps type of track than anything else after the storm,” he said. “It was single file around the middle. You never really gained or lost on anybody. Track position was definitely your friend that night.”

White Lightning Motorsports will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday with Kline back in the 305 class, where he has captured two wins this season.
