Josh Schneiderman – The Gauntlet at Knoxville!

Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team are continuing to improve and get better at the Knoxville Raceway each and every week. Forty-two 410 sprint cars including eight World of Outlaws competitors were in the house last Saturday night for weekly action. The West Burlington, Iowa driver held his own and came home with a seventeenth place finish.

Time trials were all that got in before rain came on May 30, but Josh turned his fastest time ever and was fourth quick overall. “We had an old motor that did a 14.783 at one point,” he says. “The 14.639 (on May 30) was the fastest we’ve been there. I was reading through there, and it said it was the 12th quickest lap of all time…that puts you in some good company.”

Last Saturday, he would time in a respectable 17th quick. “The quality of competition just keeps getting better,” says Josh. “I think we had eight outsiders from the Outlaws come in. That only makes it better. It’s almost ridiculous the level of competition there is at Knoxville right now. We weren’t disappointed by our qualifying effort at all. We learned some things about our motor the previous week and last week that we’re going to apply for the Outlaw show.”

Josh would also come home fourth in his heat and lock himself into the main event. “The heats are really tough,” he says. “Someone told me I had the toughest heat of the night, but I told them they need to look at the lineups. Every one of them is tough right now. I had a heck of a run on (Matt) Moro on a restart, and kind of got bottled up behind him. That allowed (Danny) Lasoski and Kerry (Madsen) to pounce on me and I was the odd man out. We still ran fourth and we were still competitive, which was a positive thing.”

He would line up 15th in the feature. “When I look at the lineup we had in Saturday’s feature, I compared it to a Knoxville Nationals preliminary night,” says Josh. “Making the show Saturday was a compliment to any team’s program.”

Josh relays that the #49 was in prime condition for the race. “We were really decent,” he says. “We’re gaining a lot of ground right now. I need to continue to improve myself as a driver. We’re awfully close. Our results haven’t necessarily been there, but as the weather gets hotter, we’re only going to get better. Other than Lasoski dominating everyone, and (Kraig) Kinser moving up several spots, no one passed a whole lot of cars. We were all just racing back and forth.”

The 17th place finish is encouraging as the team gets stronger and the World of Outlaws visit Knoxville this Saturday night. “After breaking our motor at Jackson, we’re held up from running some of these other shows,” says Josh. “We’re waiting for that to get back. Right now, we’re focusing on Knoxville and that program getting ready for the Nationals.”
