Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 10, 2015) – White Lightning Motorsports is looking forward to a pair of new opportunities this weekend.
Jamie Ball will make his career debut at U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, Mo., on Friday with the ASCS Warrior Region and Devin Kline will debut in the 360ci class on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
“I have an opportunity to put a 360 in our car over the weekend since the 305s have the weekend off,” Kline said. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity. I’m nervous, but looking forward to it. I think it will help in the 305 and maybe slow things down for that. I just want to go in and do whatever I can do. I know it’s a whole new class and the driving talent goes up so right now it’s get through the night, roll the car back on the trailer and we’ll call that a successful weekend.”
Kline was in contention for his third feature victory of the season in the 305 class last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway. He qualified fifth quickest and advanced from fifth to third place in a heat race before the feature redraw lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.
Unfortunately, Kline came to a stop in turn four on Lap 4 while he was running second because a nut backed off an integral part of the front end. The race resumed with him in the work area and Kline was credited with a 19th-place result.
“It was just a random freak thing,” he said. “I’m fortunate we got the car stopped in time before I hit the wall.”
Ball had similar misfortune at the half-mile oval where he opened the night by qualifying third quickest in the 360 class. He then charged from sixth to third place in a heat race before being awarded the seventh starting position in the main event via the feature redraw.
“We started the night off great,” he said. “I was able to move forward to third in the heat. With how the track is narrow in the heats it always feels good to move forward. We went out for the feature and had confidence and plans of going forward. It just didn’t work out.”
Ball maintained a spot inside the top 10 for most of the race before he faded to a 16th-place result.
“We tried to run a little more stagger and do a few different things and it was the wrong direction,” he said. “The first half to two thirds of the feature we were maintaining. Once the fuel load burned off it got looser and looser.”
Ball will also return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.
