Josh Schneiderman – Fast Again with NSL!
Josh Schneiderman’s strong qualifying efforts in the Deuce Motorsports #49 continued with the FVP National Sprint League at Jackson Speedway’s Folkens Bros. Trucking Spring Nationals in Minnesota Friday. Unfortunately, by night’s end, a major engine problem arose sidelining him. At Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, qualifying was more of an issue. The team plans on running with the Sprint Invaders this Friday at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa before heading back to Knoxville with the 410 on Saturday.
Things started well at Jackson on Friday with the third quick time of the night amongst the 35-car field. The time came on a newly renovated Jackson Speedway. “That was awesome,” says Josh. “We’ve been really qualifying well with the NSL. I’m really proud of that fact. The nights have started well, that’s for sure.”
Starting sixth in his heat, early contact affected the handling of the car and he would finish sixth. “We probably would have been o.k., but Davey (Heskin) and I got together and banged wheels in turn two on the original start,” says Josh. “That actually broke the Jacob’s ladder, we hit so hard. I didn’t know at the time, but it was disappointing. Obviously, getting through the heat would have put us in the top eight (for the Dash redraw).”
Starting on the pole of the B, Josh would go on to win that, earning his time spot back for the feature. “We were nice in the B,” he says. “The car was really good, and we kind of found some rubber coming off the corners. I was really excited for the A. I thought we could be competitive.”
Unfortunately, the feature didn’t last long. “About three laps in, the car lost all power,” says Josh. “We really didn’t know at that time what it was. We were hoping it was a rear end. We tried to start it Saturday and Sunday we realized the motor was locked up.”
Saturday at Knoxville, Josh timed in 21st quick. “We’re scratching our heads a little bit about qualifying,” he says. “By judging other cars, how straight their laps were, and how straight mine felt, I really didn’t think our time showed how nice our car was. We’ll try to find out what we’re missing this week. We’re not missing a bunch, just enough to keep us out of the top ten.”
Starting on the pole of his heat, Josh would checker third. “I messed up on the original start a little bit and got up on the berm,” he says. “We were nice after that and settled in. We raced with (Brian) Brown a little bit.”
Starting in row ten, Josh would settle for 21st in the feature finish. “I think we were up to 14th or 15th at one time,” he says. “I messed up getting into one and about spun out. I just lost all concentration, and things kept getting worse.”
