Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (July 29, 2014) – Derek Hagar will be using a brand new sprint car and a fresh engine when he tackles the 24th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals this weekend.

“This is the first time we’ve had brand new stuff,” he said. “We took the car out to Riverside International Speedway after the main event last Saturday night and made some practice runs with it. We can go into Thursday night with a good mindset and just go out there trying to win.”

Hagar’s preliminary night for the premier event at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, is set for Thursday with Saturday’s finale paying $10,000 to win.

“I’d be happy with a win, but if we walk out of there with a top 10 I’d be pretty satisfied with that,” he said. “We’ve shown a lot of strength where we’ve run this year. We need to prove it elsewhere.”

Hagar has 11 victories in 23 races this season, including his first career 410ci triumph on July 4 following the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions Speedweek.

“The speed difference between the 410 and 360 will help me be more calm with the 360 car at Knoxville,” he said. “You have to be as smooth as you can in qualifying. It sets the whole weekend.”

Hagar will wrap up his trip to Iowa on Monday at the Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event will mark his first-ever race at the half-mile track.
