Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (July 21, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports pilot Sammy Swindell established quick time during a pair of races last weekend.

Swindell timed in fastest at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday before he guided the Big Game Treestands team to the quickest time in qualifying on Sunday with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions at Huset’s Speedway.

Unfortunately, the speed Swindell showed at the beginning of both nights stuck him in the middle of traffic during the competition.

Based on the heat race inversion at Knoxville Raceway, Swindell lined up on the outside of the third row for his heat race. He picked up one position to lock himself into the feature, where he was forced to start eighth based on the main event inversion.

“At Knoxville we went in there with something different than we had before and it was good enough for fast time (in qualifying),” he said. “I wasn’t real happy with it, but we left it there for the heat. It wasn’t really what I was looking for so we made another big change for the feature. It was better, but the race track was fast. It was hard to do a lot of passing.”

Swindell advanced from eighth to fifth place before he finished with a sixth-place result.

“I can say we learned a lot,” he said. “We had a good car all night. I found some stuff in a direction I don’t want to go and in one direction I want to explore more. We were doing a lot of different things with the car, the aero part, the setup part and motors. We were trying to get as much done in one night as we could other than trying to win a race. But with the way the track was, if I would have started on the front row we would have definitely won it.”

The Big Game Treestands team used an older car for Sunday’s event at Huset’s Speedway.

“We didn’t want to take a chance at ruining another car,” Swindell said. “We were definitely quick all night.”

Swindell advanced from fourth to second place in his heat race and from fifth to third place in the dash, which lined him up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

“I went right to second on the start, but Ian Madsen was pretty good early,” he said. “I was taking my time. I knew there wasn’t much chance to pass until we got to traffic. When we did get to traffic it seemed like he got to pass guys before the corners and I caught them in corners. I just never really got a great break in traffic and at the end we had a tire going down with a few laps to go. We were pretty fortunate for it to not come apart and to finish third.”

Swindell ended with the podium result, which marked his 12th top five of the season. He will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.

“There’s a lot of things we’ve got to do this week before we go back to Knoxville,” he said. “Hopefully it’ll all be positive and we’ll have a good week.”
