Knoxville Raceway is excited to host Governor Branstad. House File 2464 will be signed into law Tuesday.

Knoxville, Iowa - May 12, 2014-Governor Terry E. Branstad announced he will sign House File 2464, the Knoxville Raceway bill, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Knoxville Raceway. The law is set to award Knoxville Raceway up to 2-million dollars over the next 10 years in tax rebates.

(Note: In the event of inclement weather, the bill signing will occur in the Bingley Building at the same address. Parking is available on the south side of track near the ticket office.)

Expansion-The expansion plans being considered are for a four-story International Pavilion to be located on the southeast corner of the track. An entry plaza and skywalk to the existing stands, additional skyboxes, a rooftop terrace, raceway offices, and retail space are all options being considered as portions of the new structure. Early cost estimates for the project range from $6 to $8 million dollars.

About Knoxville-The 2014 season is under way and off to a fast start. Good crowds, job fairs and great side by side racing action have been weekly at the historic Marion County Fairgrounds. This weekend will be Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series Night #5.

During the 2013 season, Knoxville Raceway had more than 211,000 visitors to the famous half-mile dirt track. The Knoxville Nationals and Knoxville 360 Nationals draw nearly 100,000 sprint car fans to witness the most prestigious and largest dirt track races in the world in early August. The Nationals combine racing with a cultural festival featuring parades, live music, camping, and expositions.This August 6th - 9th more than 100 drivers compete for a nearly million-dollar purse and the esteemed title of 2014 Knoxville Nationals Champion.
