DAVE ARGABRIGHT TO INTERVIEW BILLY MOYER ON FRIDAY AT THE NATIONAL SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (September 24, 2013) – Fans that attended last year’s special forum during the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals featuring Scott Bloomquist won’t want to miss this year’s “An Afternoon with Billy Moyer,” again emceed by veteran journalist Dave Argabright. The forum will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 27, on the second floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum.
William Kent “Billy” Moyer, originally from Des Moines, Iowa, and now of Batesville, Arkansas, has won the following dirt late model point championships in his illustrious career: National Championship Racing Association (NCRA, 1984), United States Auto Club (USAC, 1986-87), Hav-A-Tampa/United Dirt Track Racing Association (HAT/UDTRA, 1997), United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) Summer Nationals (1993, '94, '96, '99, 2001, '03), and World of Outlaws (WoO, 1988, ’89, 2005). He has also won the following major races: World 100 at Eldora Speedway (1991, '93, '94, '98, 2000, '10), The Dream at Eldora Speedway (1998, 2010), Dirt Track World Championship (1986, ’96), and the Knoxville Late Model Nationals (2010) amongst many, many others. Billy Moyer, son of Des Moines racer Bill Moyer and father of rising star Billy Moyer, Jr., was inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in 2002.
According to museum executive director Bob Baker, “This is going to be one of the highlights of the week here at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. Interestingly, Billy has won a record eight dirt late model feature races at Knoxville Raceway, including the only National Dirt Racing Association (NDRA) and Hav-A-Tampa/UDTRA shows here in 1988 and 2000, respectively. He also won a WoO/American Late Model Association (ALMA) show here in 1988. Dirt track fans won’t want to miss this forum, which is free with a paid museum admission, on Friday at 11:30 a.m.”
