Meyers Masters Knoxville

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending much of Southern Iowa Speedweek getting acclimated to the Tarlton Racing No.21, “Hotfoot”, Jason Meyers, triumphed during the second night of the 52nd Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals as he held off a charging Tim Shaffer.

Finally getting the last bit of rust shaken off of him, Meyers timed his Corporate Lending America/Tachi Palace and Casino/Sharp Insurance mount in 13th fastest with 50 cars checked in to the pit area.

Starting in the third row of his heat race, Meyers was on a mission as he carved his way forward aboard his Paul Baines prepared Bandy and Associates/Pro Signs/BG Lubricants No.21 forward as he scored a third place finish and transferred directly into the 25-lap feature event.

Starting in the third spot of the feature, Meyers chased down Mark Dobmeier and Gregg Hodnett as they held down the top two spots.

On the seventh lap Hodnett got up on the turn four cushion and came to a stop handing the second spot over to the Clovis, CA driver.

On the restart, Meyers went to the low-side in turns one and tow, and pulled event with Dobmeier, and made his pass in turns three and four and began motoring away from the field.

In clean air, Meyers was very stout as he clicked off nearly flawless until he reached lapped traffic with just a few laps remaining.

Though he was able to get through traffic with no issues, it allowed Shaffer to close in on him, but he never seriously challenged Meyers for the win.

The win for Meyers came with a huge celebration in victory lane with his Tarlton and Son team.

“This just feels so awesome to grab this win with this team at Knoxville,” a jubilant Meyers exclaimed. “I can’t thank Tom and Tommy Tarlton for taking a chance on me, and Corporate Lending America/Tachi Palace and Casino/Bandy and Associates/Sharp Insurance/BG Lubricants, and K&N Products for continuing to help us out. We will be in the show on Saturday and I am expecting some more of the guys from California to show up.”

Jason would like to thank Corporate Lending America, Tachi Palace and Casino, Sharp Insurance, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, K&N Products and Astro Titanium for their continued support.
