LASOSKI AIMING FOR FIFTH KNOXVILLE NATIONALS TITLE

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 7) – It sure wasn’t the way Danny Lasoski wanted to start his two weeks of Knoxville Nationals.

After qualifying first in Friday’s group for the 21st annual 360 Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, the veteran’s engine dropped a valve in his heat race. That sidelined him for the remainder of the $10,000-to-win 360 Knoxville Nationals.

“It pretty much ruined it,” the 1995 champion of the 360 Knoxville Nationals said. “It was very, very disappointing. I feel like we were one of the fastest cars in the field and we were going to be very, very good. I just hate it.”

The Dover, Mo., native shifted focus to his 410 program, which has a special sponsor – Solar Link – for the famed 51st annual 410 Knoxville Nationals. The business is co-owned by longtime friend Tony Ross.

“We’re hoping it builds into something for next year,” Lasoski said. “We’re here to show them what we’ve got.”

That began on Saturday in the final “test” of the season, which was sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions. Lasoski qualified 13th of the 49 drivers and he finished fifth in his heat race to advance to the 20-lap feature.

After starting ninth, Lasoski picked off cars one by one until he climbed to third.

“It was a brand new car and brand new engine, and we’re happy with it,” he said. “There’s some minor tuning and tweaking to do, but I think we’re heading into the Knoxville Nationals on a good note.

“We have just as good of a shot as any. When you come to the Knoxville Nationals, it’s all about luck. If you put yourself in position, anything can happen.”

Lasoski, the winningest driver in the history of Knoxville Raceway, has claimed four Knoxville Nationals championships. He won his first in 1998 and then took three out of four from 2001-04.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Creason Pipeline Services

Creason Pipeline Services is owned by Todd Creason, a longtime friend of Lasoski’s. Located in Carrollton, Mo., and Barnsdall, Okla., Creason Pipeline Services offers a variety of options in the pipeline industry. For more information, visit www.creasonpipeline.com.

“Todd Creason is not a sponsor; he’s my friend,” Lasoski said. “Without him, I couldn’t even run a local race. Todd has let me use his engines and his trailer so I can make it from point A to point B. I really appreciate his support and friendship.”

Lasoski would also like to thank the Michael Ross Foundation, Eagle Motorsports, Hoosier, Wertz Designs, Kistler Engines, Ditzfeld Transfer, Inc. and Solar Link for their continued support.
