LASOSKI 2nd AFTER BEING ELECTED INTO HALL OF FAME
Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 7) – Overwhelming.
Pure and simple, that’s the best way for Danny Lasoski to describe last Saturday when he was elected into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
“I’m very, very proud to be in the Hall of Fame,” the Dover, Mo., native said. “I want to thank the Hall of Fame for the honor. It is truly an honor.
“As a driver, I never paid much attention to my statistics. But as they introduced me and read off some of the accomplishments, I was just overwhelmed.”
Almost as overwhelmed as the competition has been at Knoxville Raceway this season chasing down the veteran, who – entering Saturday night’s event – had won two of the three features and led all but one of the feature laps in the 410 class.
After qualifying third and rocketing from eighth to third in his heat race, Lasoski lined up fourth for the 20-lap feature. He proceeded to slide into the lead on the initial lap. As he drove away from the field, Lasoski said the car was loose on the bottom so he moved up the track.
With three laps to go, Terry McCarl capitalized and utilized the low line to take the lead. He then held off Lasoski down the stretch.
“I don’t have any excuses; I just got beat,” said Lasoski, who has two wins and two second-place finishes in four features this season at Knoxville Raceway.
“I could give 15,000 excuses, but the bottom line is that I got beat.”
The all-time winningest driver at Knoxville, Lasoski has led all but four of the 80 feature laps and has more than a 100-point lead in the chase for the championship.
He returns to the famed ½-mile dirt oval on Friday and Saturday for a pair of events with the World of Outlaws.
