Survival of the Fittest at Knoxville..

Team 1HD and Driver Jason Tostenson migrated south this past week to make their debut appearance at the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Ia. Having no real racing time in down there can humble just about any team in the country so the Team set 1 goal, and that was to get the car into the nights A-main..
According Team Owner Steve Staerk, " I have been around this place my whole life, so I kinda had a pretty good idea of what it takes to make the car tick here. However, I messed up on the gear choice for for time trials which hurt. You cannot go into Knoxville and make a mistake, The beginning of the night is the toughest part." However Driver Jason Tostenson would more than bale his owner out on the first lap of the heat race as he advanced from dead last to 4th and solidly lock the car into the A-main.. Jason commented after taking his first laps ever in competetion there, " This place is just down right awe inspiring!!"
As the feature went Green, Jason had his hands absolutely full as there were cars flipping in front of him, beside him, and behind him. Jason commented, "I have never heard noises like that in my entire career in the cockpit!" After the opening lap melee that ate 5 cars down the front straightaway. On the next complete restart 3 more cars ended up crashing in 3 and 4 forcing Jason to jump the berm down there to save the car. Unfortunately it also kinda knocked something out in the rearend of the race car and we would end up finishing 12th with a terrible vibration in the car. All things considered we consider ourselves very fortunate to have survived the night, as neither Driver or Owner still know where the devine intervention came from on the opening lap disaster!
Team 1HD will be back in action this Saturday night at the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Mn and Redwood Speedway in Redwood Falls, Mn on Sunday.. We hope to see you at the track!!
