Jamie Ball- Getting Closer
(White Lightning Motorsports) – July 17, 2010 –
This week would see the Delta Oil #5J race on Saturday July 17, 2010 at the Knoxville Raceway. Our teams 360 engine was still getting ready to race so once again we only raced our 305 sprint car.

This past weekend at the Knoxville Raceway my team was scheduled to race both the 305 and 360 sprints cars. Well, after blowing that engine two weeks ago we still hadn’t gotten it fixed. So therefore we only ran our 305 sprint car. We all had high hopes going into tonight after our great test time last weekend. Hot laps went great and I was the third fastest car overall for all of the 305 sprint cars. So my confidence was high going into the heat race. I was lined up in third position on the start and the green flag flew and I was right behind the #33 of Van Haften and with about two laps to go coming off turn two the engine just laid down and started not running like it should. I was able to finish the heat race in third position. Once I pulled in we pulled the hood off of the car and started checking things out. Lee Nelson from Ostrich Racing Engines came over to help us diagnose the problem. Turns out we stuck a valve. This would end my night once again. To make matters even more heartbreaking I would soon find out that I was scheduled to start on the pole of the 305 A-Main. That just made the night even worse. The track was tacky and I was able to run the bottom full throttle in the heat race so I’m sure a top three finish, if not a win could have been in our future. But we will come back stronger than ever next week and see if we can’t finally get that win that we all work so hard to achieve.

This week the White Lightning Motorsports Team plans to race on Saturday July 24, 2010 at the Knoxville Raceway. This Saturday is 3M night at the Knoxville Raceway. Both our 305 and 360 engines will be fixed thanks to the hard work by Ostrich Racing Engines. So we will be doing double duty once again. Come out and support myself and the rest of the White Lightning Motorsports race team at Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.
