L. SPENCER RIGGS TO SIGN LANGHORNE BOOKS AT KNOXVILLE ON SATURDAY

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (May 31, 2010) - Noted historian and writer L. Spencer Riggs will be signing copies of his book, “Langhorne: No Man’s Land”, on Saturday, June 5, at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. The book-signing session will take place in the lobby of the museum at 4 p.m., following the twenty-first National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (NSCHoF) induction banquet. The book is available for sale in the museum store.

According to museum curator Tom Schmeh, “We have to thank Jeanne Hinnershitz Craig for helping us coordinate this book-signing event. It is only fitting that a book about Langhorne be represented at Knoxville, as both dirt tracks have had such tremendous roles in the overall history of sprint car racing. And we are thrilled to be welcoming Spencer to our induction weekend. He will be joined here by such other writers and historians as Dr. Pat Sullivan, Allan Brown, Larry Ball, Jr., and Tony Martin.

Tickets for the NSCHoF induction banquet, set for Saturday afternoon from Noon until 3 p.m., are now available by calling the non-profit museum at 1-800-874-4488. This year’s inductees include Bobbie Adamson, Hank Arnold, Fred Linder, Frank Riddle, Hal Robson, Herman Schurch, Clyde Adams, Casey Luna, Don Shepherd, George Bentel, Fred Brownfield, and Ben Krasner.

Tickets are just twenty-five dollars each and the dress code for the dinner/awards function will be “dressy casual”. To date, Bobbie Adamson, Fred Linder, Casey Luna and Don Shepherd have all indicated that they plan on being in attendance on the June 3-4-5 induction weekend. In addition, Fred Brownfield’s widow Debbie, Frank Riddle’s son Jim, Hal Robson’s son Lee, and Hank Arnold’s son Larry and their respective families have all indicated that they are planning to be in Knoxville on Saturday, June 5.

Those seeking more information on the NSCHoF induction weekend are encouraged to call the museum at 641-842-6176, or visit their web-site at www.sprintcarhof.com. Those wishing to purchase the "Langhorne: No Man's Land" book can do so by calling the museum store at 1-800-874-4488 or by going on-line at www.sprintcarstuff.com.
