MUSEUM-BENEFIT “POKER RUN” SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY OF KNOXVILLE’S AMA-SANCTIONED MOTORCYCLE RACE WEEKEND
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (May 19, 2010) - The 501(c)(3) non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation has hosted museum-benefit golf tournaments, bowling tournaments, fashion shows, film festivals, auctions and raffles, but never a “poker run”. But, all of that will change on Saturday, September 18, when the Knoxville-based museum will host a charity motorcycle ride in conjunction with that night’s American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship event at the adjacent Knoxville Raceway.
According to museum marketing manager Chuck Stowe, “We are excited to be hosting a brand-new event for the benefit of our non-profit museum foundation and it ties in perfectly with Knoxville Raceway’s vintage and professional motorcycle racing weekend on September 17-18. We are currently finalizing our five stops at which the motorcycle riders will pick up their playing cards, but we expect the checkpoints to include destinations in Monroe, Newton, Des Moines, Indianola and Knoxville. And we will make sure that all riders are back in Knoxville in time to receive their poker prizes and enjoy that night’s AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship event on the half-mile dirt track at the Marion County Fairgrounds.”
Registration forms for the fun charity ride, which costs just $35 per rider, are available on-line at www.sprintcarhof.com/pages/specialevents. Details regarding the entire event, including lunch and prizes, will be finalized by July 1. Individuals are also encouraged to call the museum at 1-800-874-4488 with registrations or questions.
