Jamie Ball- Debut at Knoxville Raceway

Jamie Ball – Debut at Knoxville!
(White Lightning Motorsports) – May 6, 2010 – After it was all done and over with, the debut at Knoxville Raceway for Jamie Ball was a big success. There were ups and there were downs, but at the end of the night a lot was learned by both Jamie and his White Lightning Motorsports team.
The first night was a double duty night for the #5J team. Jamie would be competing in both the 305 and 360 classes. In the past the 360 class used to draw for starting position in their heat races, now this year they are attempting to do group qualifying. After qualifying was over Jamie would time in 24th fastest out of 33 cars with a 16.634 being his fastest. Once again the night was going good as the heat inverts 24 cars. Next up was the 305 heat where Jamie would start pole position. The 305 heats are 6 laps in distance and with 1 lap to go Jamie was running a strong 3rd position. Than a yellow would come out, and after the restart he would fall from 3rd to 5th position. Next up was the 360 heat where Jamie would start pole position once again. With his adrenaline pumping he jumped out to the early lead down the front stretch and went to run the cushion going into turn one. When he crossed from the bottom of the track to the top he lost control of the car and spun out in front of the entire field. Jamie would restart in 8th position and he would go onto finish 6th position.
After the intermission it was time for the 360 B-Main. Jamie would start 7th position and would end up finishing 14th position. Last race of the night was the 305 A-Main. Jamie would start 10th position and fall back to 13th position.
After the race Jamie commented on the night saying, “We started off the night really good. When the track was tacky I was comfortable, than later in the night once the track slicked off I just wasn’t as comfortable enough to stand on the gas as I was early in the night when the track was tacky. But with more and more laps that comfortable feeling will come. We are just going to take each night as it comes, and be prepared to come back and do it again next week.”
Jamie is ready for this weekend. “On Friday we are renting Knoxville Raceway from 6:30 PM-9:30PM to get some more laps in and get ready for this Saturday’s racing action. This Saturday Jamie will race only his 360 in the Knoxville Championship Cup Series Night #2 / IRA Challenge - PEPSI Night.”
