From 2005 through 2008 only one man could claim they had won more sprint car races than Mark Dobmeier, and that is multi-time World of Outlaws champion, Donny Schatz. The man they call “Dynamite”, has imposed his will on the Upper Midwest in that time period, and boasts well over 100 wins at the young age of 28.
The Grand Forks native tows ten hours from North Dakota every Saturday after competing at his hometown River Cities Speedway on Friday, where he is a six-time champ and career feature winner leader there. On Sunday, he stops at Huset’s Speedway (SD) on the way home, and is the three-time and defending track champion there as well.
In 2008, Mark jumped to a third place standing in the Knoxville point race, earned the Lyle Boyd Hard Charger Award, and won a track high three feature events, including the last two of the season. That followed a season in which he won Rookie of the Year honors and finished sixth in the 2007 standings.
The three-time Northern Outlaw Sprint Association champ beat the World of Outlaws at a track he had never seen in 2006, the Wilmot Speedway (WI). He also seemingly had the 2008 Front Row Challenge in the bag in Oskaloosa, Iowa, after dusting Joey Saldana and Daryn Pittman in one-on-one match races, before tangling with lapped cars while pulling away with the feature. “Dynamite” will again be a force to be reckoned with in 2010!
