A transplant of Arizona, Ryan has been a fixture as he has been towing from the western Iowa hamlet of Charter Oak to Knoxville Raceway since his move to the “Hawkeye State” in 1999. His experience in Arizona consisted mostly of drag racing and mini-sprints, but it has been primarily sprint cars since his move. Brother Troy lends a needed wrench and support at the racetrack.
Ryan scored 360 victories in 2001 and 2002 while finishing in the top ten in the standings. He moved up to the 410 class the following year. After a career best 12th in the 2006 410 standings, Ryan went through a tough 2007 season that saw some tough luck. Ryan rebounded in 2008 to a 16th place finish, registered 18th in 2009 and continues to be one of the more solid qualifiers at Knoxville.
