About Matthew

Matthew Stelzer made the two and half hour tow from Omaha, Nebraska to Knoxville, Iowa to race in the 305 class. On July 28, 2012, Matthew accomplished his dream of winning his first 305 career feature win at Knoxville Raceway. He would end the season as the 305 Lucas Oil Knoxville Track Champion. In nine 305 sprint car races at Knoxville Raceway in 2012, Matthew was able to accomplish the following:
  • 2012 - 305 Lucas Oil Knoxville Track Championship
  • 2012 - Lyle Boyd Hard Charger Award
  • 1 - 305 Knoxville Raceway A-feature
  • 5 - 305 Knoxville Raceway quick times
  • 4 - Knoxville Raceway Weekly Hard Chargers
  • 5 - Podium Finishes
  • 6 - Top Five Finishes
  • 9 - Top Ten Finishes
After racing mini-sprints for eight years, Matthew began racing 305 sprint cars in 2006. He won his first career 305 sprint car feature event on August 15, 2006 at I-80 Speedway in Nebraska. He was also awarded the I-80 Speedway 305 2006 Sprint Co-Rookie of the Year.
